Introducing Reverend Winston
A Letter from the Board of Trustees
Dear Friends and Families of the Cornerstone Community,
It is with great pride and pleasure that the Board of Trustees announce the selection of Rev. Daryl W. Winston, Esq. to be Cornerstone Christian Academy’s new President and CEO, effective July 1, 2020.
Earlier this year, Cornerstone’s Board of Trustees commenced a comprehensive search for our next President. Under the leadership of Committee Chair Dr. Anita Bell, the Search Committee conducted a wide-ranging discovery process to identify the best candidate to carry Cornerstone’s mission and vision into the future. Upon completion, the Board unanimously selected Rev. Winston and he accepted the position with enthusiasm.
The Winston family is not new to Cornerstone; Daryl’s wife Jo has both volunteered and served on the Board of Trustees. Outgoing President Dick Ollinger—a long-time friend of Daryl and Jo—attests, “I cannot imagine a more dynamic and qualified Christian leader for Cornerstone than Daryl Winston. He brings an abundance of energy, intelligence, vision, and love to this call to service, as well as a familiarity and commitment to Cornerstone’s mission that he and his wife Jo have supported for many years. Exciting days lie ahead as Cornerstone embarks on a new era under Daryl’s leadership.”
Rev. Winston will utilize his experience and skills as an ordained minister and seasoned lawyer to lead Cornerstone into our fourth decade of serving the community of Southwest Philadelphia. He is a graduate of Penn State University, Ohio State University College of Law, Temple University Beasley School of Law, and Princeton Theological Seminary. He has worked at several Philadelphia-based law firms including Conrad O’Brien Gellman & Rohn and Ross Feller Casey, and founded the Winston Law Firm, LLC in 2009.
Throughout his quarter-century of legal experience, Rev. Winston is known for his tag line “On a Mission to Serve and Succeed” and the application of his honest and heartfelt perspective on life, which is to “listen, learn, and lead.” The Cornerstone community can expect that Daryl will impart these same Christian principles and values to our children— to serve the Lord and to succeed not only in educational endeavors, but throughout life. Inheriting the responsibility from Dick Ollinger, Daryl cites Joshua 1:5, “As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.”
Daryl’s life is greatly influenced by the love of his family. He joyfully married Jo-—the woman God appointed for him—23 years ago. Through this blessed union, they had their first child, Dawson, who is currently attending the University of Pittsburgh; and their youngest child, Jaina who is a rising sophomore at Penn State.
The Board of Trustees enthusiastically welcomes Daryl to Cornerstone and we ask that all members of the Cornerstone family join in congratulating him on his selection.
